Donation to Gansu Duipo Village School
Duipo Village School is located in Dazhuang commune of Duipo Village, belonging to Wangji Countryseat of Dongxiang County. Presently, the school has 130 students and 6 teachers (including 2 volunteer teachers). Due to a combination of reasons, including poor economic development and cultural background, the standard of education has been slow in developing. The people here speak Dongxiang local dialects, with very few understanding mandarin. At present, the local teachers need to provide bilingual teaching to the younger grades. Most villagers living close by the school want their children to acquire an education and attend school, however, many of them are unable to pay for the school books and materials. ClearWorld Energy is committed to providing assistance and help to the children at Duipo Village School to allow these children to continue their study and grow up to be a useful member in society. Recently, ClearWorld through Operation Blessing made its donation towards Duipo Village School, through this program, 130 children will be sponsored for the school year of 2007-2008. Simultaneously, this program aims to provide these children with a daily nutritional intake that will improve their health and growth.

Operation Blessing
In 2006 Clearworld Energy was a Diamond Sponsor of the European Chamber Gala Dinner supporting Operation Blessing China and their work to help orphans in China. Other sponsors included BMW, Nokia and Airbus.

An established charity organization in China since 1999, Operation Blessing aims to "help alleviate suffering, restore human dignity, and give hope for the future." To realize these goals, Operation Blessing conducts a wide array of internationally recognized projects, including free medical clinics for those without healthcare access, free life-saving or life-impacting surgeries, water cisterns for those without access to clean drinking water, disaster relief for those who have lost everything, educational grants for orphans or poor children unable to pay their public school tuition fees, as well as volunteer assistance, medical services and nutritional aid for orphans.
Magic Hospital
In May 2007 Clearworld Energy sponsored an event for Magic Hospital a Beijing based children’s charity.
Green Long March
In July 2007 Clearworld Energy will be a silver sponsor of Green Long March, one of China’s largest youth outreach events, in which teams of students will march on routes throughout China bringing the message of sustainable development to rural regions and surveying the many successful examples of sustainability worked out at grass roots level by local communities. Consistent with its clean energy and climate change mitigation mission, Clearworld Energy will sponsor the Northeast Forest Route. Other sponsors of the GLM include Goldman Sachs, Suntech and Yahoo China.
The organizer of the GLM, FutureGenerations, founded in 1992, is a nonprofit educational institution that teaches and enables a process of equitable and sustainable community change in four countries: Afghanistan, China, India and Peru. The process of community change is designed to facilitate three-way partnerships between communities, government and non-government organizations and to scale-up successful community-based programs to the regional or national level. FutureGenerations formalized its education programs in 2003 by offering a Master's of Arts Degree Program in Applied Community Change and Conservation.
Bethel Foster Home
In June 2007 Clearworld’s CFO Liu Rong visited Bethel Home for Blind Orphans in Langfang near Beijing – as a follow up to our work with Operation Blessing last year. There we met some of the kids and attended one of the classes – leaving with a deep impression both of the work of the Bethel organisation as well as the indomitable happy spirit of the kids themselves and their desire to learn. We learned of the Bethel project to finance and construct a purpose- built ranch in the country to replace the current rented premises and committed ourselves to its support. ESD-Sinosphere will design and manage a low-cost low pollution heating system for the ranch using renewable energy technologies, Camco International will finance the construction of the whole system and Clearworld Energy has pledged to sponsor the construction of one of the residential homes within the ranch complex
CSR Policy
The founders and all the staff at ClearWorld Energy share a common belief that sustainable energy resources can improve people’s lives:
- directly through the provision of clean energy in rural areas
- indirectly by reducing the amount of air pollution from the burning of fossil fuels, which is a huge problem in China
- globally by lessening the drivers of climate change through reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
In every case ClearWorld Energy considers sustainable development and climate change benefits before proceeding with a project. Further, we believe that all corporations and individuals share a common duty to find responsible ways to produce and consume energy. In particular we want to draw attention to the inequality that exists between energy service provision in cities and in rural areas.
We have therefore decided to allocate a portion of our company’s profit into programs to promote sustainable energy in rural areas of China. Examples of the programs that we will develop as part of the CSR program include:
- Funding a localised discount scheme to improve the affordability of family / village sized solar, wind and hydro systems in western China
- Funding training programmes for rural energy service companies, leveraging materials developed under other donor programmes
- Funding the development and promotion of a series of modules on sustainable energy for use in schools and colleges to raise awareness in future generations
- Funding a demonstration program for incorporating more renewables and energy efficiency into the building environment for China’s poorer households.
In addition Clearworld Energy supports via sponsorship other organisations and events which share similar goals to alleviate poverty and improve sustainability.
